This video is a documentary that provide a brief introduction about the German Panzer IV tank in WW2, which mainly described how the tank was built and the improvements has been made during the battlefield. The video would demonstrate how German tanks grow from "tiny five ton packages to one hundred-ton monsters."
As our draft storyboard presented, the tank will be modelled and animated in a bottom-up procedure. We starts with continuous track to armour and gun, including interiors. As the modelled tank transforms in our video, corresponded documentaries and footages would strengthen and expand the content narration.
My major role on this project is model making and animation. After the first version of our tank was completed, I started to work on the component and camera moving by viewing the storyboard.
Due to the calculation speed of our computer, we have to finalize the animation first and then build environment and texture on the model. Rendering also took huge amount of time, personally, this project did not reach my highest satisfaction, but I indeed learned a lot of experience from it.
